There are many reasons why people want to volunteer to help the environment from being passionate about caring for the environment, to the desire to add some excitement to their lives, and an opportunity to meet new people. But people often do not know where to start. If you are in the Jacksonville area, below is a list of organizations that you can help make waves for by volunteering your time.   1. St. Johns Riverkeeper

    Participate in one of their cleanups or join one of their volunteer groups such as the River Patrol and Rising Tides.

  2. North Florida Land Trust

    The trust is looking for volunteers to help with trail maintenance, clean-ups, outreach events, and office tasks. The application to become a volunteer is a quick form.

  3. Groundwork Jacksonville

    Groundwork is searching for volunteers to help with creek cleanups, data entry and management, biodiversity corridor maintenance, and more.

  4. Beach Clean Ups

    The City of Jacksonville publishes beach and costal clean-up events for the community to get involved with.

  5. Beaches Go Green

    If you subscribe to the Beaches Go Green mailing list they will text you with volunteer event reminders and Go Green tips on Tuesdays.

  6. GTM Monthly Beach Clean Up

    Join the Guana Tolomato Matanzas (GTM) National Estuarine Research Reserve for a beach cleanup on the fourth Saturdays of every month.

  7. Timucuan Parks Foundation

    The Timucuan offers self-guided cleanups and also plans guided cleanups.

  8. Friends of Anastasia State Park

    There are multiple ways to get involved with the park such as resident campground host, field worker, interpretative lead, ranger station assistant, and state park member.

  9. Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens

    Volunteers are needed for guest relations, horticulture, education, trail maintenance, and special events.
